Tuesday, April 20th, 2021, is a memorable day for many, including myself. This is the day that the verdict for the murder of George Floyd was given: guilty on all charges. This verdict has been heavily celebrated around the nation and is extremely pivotal in the fight against police brutality against Black and Brown people around the nation. I'm very thankful for the overdue justice that George Floyd has received however, the fight is still far from over. There have been countless other lives unjustly taken by police officers and those individuals are still yet to receive justice. The stories of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Lurry, Jacob Blake, Adam Toledo, Mah’Kia Bryant, and many more still don’t end with justice. So as we celebrate one justice, may we not forget about the others who deserve justice as well; may we not forget that the system continues to work as it was designed to.
